Logansport Sweeps Benton Central in Doubleheader Action

Benton Central Varsity Baseball vs. Logansport Berries – Doubleheader Summary Game 1 The Benton Central Varsity Bison fell to Logansport, 9-1, in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader. Logansport jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring three runs on a two-run single by Camden Champman and a sacrifice fly by Carson Dubes. They added to their advantage in the second inning, capitalizing on a Benton Central error and a two-run single by Braylon Ritchie. The Berries continued to extend their lead in the third, plating three more runs with an RBI single by Cooper Hackman a groundout by Bryson Herr, and another Benton Central error. Spencer Flook took the loss for the Bison, pitching 2 1/3 innings and allowing nine runs (three earned) on eight hits, while striking out one and walking none. Rocky Ellis came on in relief, tossing three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk. Tanner Pitstick drove in the lone run for Benton Central, while Miles Cooley led the team offensively with a 1-for-2 effort at the plate. Logansport finished with 10 hits, led by Bryson Herr, Cooper Hackman, and Braylon Ritchie, who each collected two hits. Ritchie also drove in two runs and went 2-for-4 on the day. The Berries were aggressive on the bases, stealing nine total, and played error-free defense. Carson Dubes led the team with 12 fielding chances. Game 2 In Game 2, Logansport methodically built their lead en route to an 8-0 win over Benton Central. The Berries scored twice in the first inning on an RBI single by Deagan Kitchel and a dropped third strike. They added two more runs in the third inning with a triple by Bryson Herr and a sacrifice fly. Kaydric Tyson started on the mound for Benton Central, pitching three innings and giving up four runs on three hits, with three strikeouts and two walks. Spencer Flook again paced the Bison offense, going 1-for-2 at the plate. Logansport’s offense was balanced, with Max Kitchel leading the way with a 2-for-2 performance. Camden Chapman, Deagan Kitchel, and Aiden Swank each recorded an RBI. Micah Rogers stole two bases as part of the Berries' four steals in the game. Once again, Logansport played flawless defense, with Grady Alexander handling seven chances in the field.
