Oxford, IN -- Wednesday. April 30th West Lafayette scored six runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat Benton Central Varsity Bison 7-1 on Wednesday. The Benton Central Varsity Bison continued to show growth and determination in a challenging matchup against a strong West Lafayette team on Wednesday evening at Darrell Snodgrass Field. The game remained close until the top of the fourth inning, when West Lafayette broke through, capitalizing on a pair of defensive miscues and timely hitting to take control. Despite the setback, the young Bison squad never stopped competing and gained valuable experience against a disciplined opponent. Kaydric Tyson started on the mound for Benton Central, tossing three and two-thirds innings. He allowed just two hits and no earned runs, striking out four. His continued development is a positive sign for the Bison moving forward. At the plate, Carter Fox led the offense with an RBI single, going 1-for-3. Tyson and Nolan Winkler also recorded hits for Benton Central. West Lafayette's Ben Werth earned the win, giving up just one run on three hits while striking out five across five and two-thirds innings. Werth also led his team offensively with three hits and a stolen base, while his team played error-free defense. The Bison will look to bounce back and build on their progress as they host South Newton at home on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
